Maishofen - home to Harvest Festival celebrations from late August until the end of October

A Salzburg Harvest Festival is synonymous with celebration, great food and drink, and authentic local culture. Salzburg's farmers are at the center of it all, serving up local country produce at country markets, right on the farm, or, in its very finest form, on special "Harvest Festival" menus at local restaurants.

Harvest Festival is also a time to honor popular culture by highlighting country and village traditions. Stepping to the fore are music, folk costumes, handicrafts and local customs that have been passed down through the generations.

One of the highlights of Maishofen's Harvest Festival celebrations is the annual bringing down of cattle from summer pasture in the mountains, followed by a delightful country fair.
