The Seisenbergklamm natural monument impressively showcases the awe-inspiring power of water. In a playful way, children and adults are introduced to natural history.
The Seisenbergklamm in Weißbach near Lofer dates back approximately 12,000 years. During the last Ice Age, large parts of Salzburg were buried beneath a vast network of ice streams. Flowing slowly under immense pressure, the glacial ice carved the Saalach Valley into a U-shaped valley. After the ice melted, the Weißbach stream carved its bed through the enormous glacial deposits and into the underlying limestone. Over millennia, the breathtaking Seisenbergklamm natural monument was formed.
